IE7

I noticed that on the main page, the "Log In" link was in the upper-left corner of the page instead of the upper-right corner (at least, that's where it is on Wikipedia). The problem right now for me is that the "Log In" link is "under" the main logo link, making it impossible to sign in. I was only able to do so by trying to create an article and getting the error message. In school, on a PC, I believe that the Log In link was in the correct place, on the upper-right. Now that I'm thinking about it, the problem is probably due to the fact that I'm using the IE7 beta 2. But it might be worthwhile to address this issue early on. I don't know the first thing about coding, so I'll leave it to someone more capable. Thanks. P.S. I love the idea of having a wiki! Can't wait to add some great stuff on PS, InDesign, the newspaper, etc. Rreibstein 16:19, 19 April 2006 (EDT)

IE7 Compatibility Update

I just upgraded from the Beta 2 Preview of IE7 to the IE7 Beta 2, which, for all intents and purposes, are the same. However, the switch, as stated by MS, does suggest that IE7 is now considered a usable program that will not change significantly from this time until launch. Since I still see the same problem, I think that it is more likely on our side that on MS's, but, since I know next to nothing about coding, I'll let someone more capable investigate. Hope I'm not being too pusy or irritating; if I am, I'm more than happy to keep any issues I see to myself. Thanks. Rreibstein 16:36, 28 April 2006 (EDT)

Until IE7 is in full release we have no way of knowing whether problems will be fixed in IE7 or whether they are problems we must address. We do know, however, that MediaWiki is constantly being updated by the open source community, and like you pointed out, WikiPedia currently displays correctly. So this problem will probably vanish once we upgrade our wiki installation. That just won't happen for us as often as it will for WikiPedia. But these are good points. Thanks, and please keep contributing. --sdc 13:22, 3 May 2006 (EDT)
I have upgraded to the latest MediaWiki (1.5.7) Any change in the display? Wikipedia uses the development code, not the release code, so they are on 1.6.x at this point. I only install the latest released version, not the dev code! (as a total aside, Reid, you posted those two messages on my sister's and brother's birthdays, weird)--Jking 16:56, 15 June 2006 (EDT)
Just upgraded to 1.6.7, any change? --Jking 15:15, 16 June 2006 (EDT)
Sorry for not responding earlier; I haven't been to this page in a while. Yes, the problem with the login appears to be completely resolved. The Login button is not on the right side as it should be. This was actually solved a while ago (maybe once you upgraded). Thanks for helping me out, even if almost no one will appreciate it until Vista and IE7 come out (just a few more months!)
That is weird about the birthdays. Unfortunately, we missed posting on mine (Aug. 1) Maybe next year! Rreibstein 10:24, 2 September 2006 (EDT)
Well, we are on MediaWiki 1.10 now, and IE7 is fully supported and looks great! Jonathan King 09:29, 15 May 2007 (EDT)
